Tony Lionni – Lost Souls EP [KCTDL1123] ~ Release Notes
Following releases on NRK, Freerange Records and many more, Tony Lionni brings his unique blend of techno and deep house to Madhouse!
When Madhouse Records main man Kerri Chandler drew our attention to this collection of tracks, and their producer Tony Lionni we knew they were Madhouse material.
With previous releases on the likes of Freerange Records, NRK and International Deejay Gigolos, Manchester born, Berlin based Tony Lionni’s profile has been consistently rising over the last three years. He cites Ron Trent, Theo Parrish and our own Kerri Chandler as influences, and fuses elements of techno and house with deep house to create some of the most interesting and exciting music we’ve heard in a long time.
Tony’s been on the rise as a DJ too, with regular sessions at Panorama Bar in Berlin and guest slots as far and wide as Tokyo, London and Tel Aviv cementing him as an all-round talent.
We’re letting Tony’s music do its things on this EP, with a collection of four original tracks. First up is title track ‘Lost Souls’, a laid back opener with a fantastic Rhodes-driven groove and Tom Middleton-esque synth swirls and sweeps.
Up next is ‘Try My Love’ which takes things down a definite disco influenced route, continuously building through the track towards a 70s funk lead synth line but keeping the dancefloor intensity thoughout.
‘Body & Soul’ takes things slightly more progressive while still remaining within the soulful end of house. Hints of vocal snippets and rising synths supply the ear candy while the deep bassline and crisp beats keep things driving along for the floor.
We peak on a high with ‘Positive Vibration’ which explores a slightly more techno feel with elements of a “back in the day” early 90s Lil Louis vibe. This rounds off the EP perfectly, definitely leaving you wanting more.
