Cosmobox Direct DownloadsWith just one other release to his name for Deadplate Records (not counting his turns in trio Circle Traps), Will Ward signs up to Audio Doughnuts for an EP that perfectly shows off his modern bassy techno craft. “224” is a stunning example of how to use industrial techno grit as a jumping-off point for something thrilling and original. With snarling bass tones and heaps of sound design puffing and panting in the mix, the track positively bangs in an eminently danceable way while being completely dizzying at the same time. “Pavillion” too finds Ward offsetting his ranging synth scrapes with tough beats that shuffle and shake in unconventional ways without losing sight of the groove. Hodge meanwhile brings a delicate and mechanical touch to “224”, and Filter Dread throws down a spacious and slightly madcap version of “Pavillion”.
