For the latest missive on his Tom Tom Disco label, Swedish DJ/producer Richard Rossa has handed a debut to Stockholm-based crate-digger and scalpel fiend The Keep (AKA producer Daniel Bech). Black Ice is a sampler for Bech’s debut album of the same name, a solid collection of floor-friendly disco and disco-funk re-edits that should appeal to purists and those who enjoy reworks of obscure and little-known gems. Choose between the hazy Latin trumpet, pulsing horns and low-down groove of “Black Ice”, the sprawling disco-funk hedonism of “Coke On The Console” (our pick), and the synth-laden instrumental wig-out “Pepe’s Bodega”. The latter track is rather grand, and features almost everything but the kitchen sink.
