The last AMAM release of the year comes just in time for the holidays, and like Santa Claus, we are handing out some goodies for the DJs on our “nice” list. OK, for the naughty ones, too! Hand Out Chapter Five compiles ten brisk and icy tech-house tracks from six different artists, both familiar faces and newcomers. The first moments of “A25ALL”, by producer Sloan, combine frosty, dubbed out ambience with jazzed-out percussion fills before the 4/4 beat beckons you onto the dancefloor. “R” shows a more straightforward, menacing techno side. Then Bolumar from Valencia shows his wildly playful approach toward house music with “Maleficent” and “Beggins”, sounding like frisky droids in heat. Our dependable Sardinian roster member 000 resurfaces with two tracks that offer a garden of sonic textures: the cavernous and synthetic “Trk5” and “Trk6”. North American partnership Sakro and Max Jacobson offer two versions of the appropriately titled “7am Feelings”, the chic and seductive original as well as Sakro’s stripped-down, piano-laced “Afterhours Mix”.
