Never one to use a succinct title when a dramatic one is available, Voidloss starts his latest release with the impossibly grandiose sounding “A Field Of Lavender To Lose Hope”. The sonic approach is much earthier, with tough, distorted drums and sheets of earsplitting noise somehow rising through the impenetrably dense rhythms. “He Crawls Inside My Mind” is based on a relatively similar approach, albeit with a more dancefloor-based sound. From there on in, the South African producer allows melodies to glisten and twinkle amid his crunchy, distorted rhythms. Dreamy textures seep through the harsh framework of “Self Revelation Is Annihilation Of Self” and “Until The Lights Have All Gone Out” is cloaked in eerie, haunting FX.
