ll était une fois, french translation of “Once upon a time” sees the off-the-wall multi-instrumentist Florian Muller at his very best. Some of you may be familiar with a man who’s definitely one of the most creative and different sounding house producer nowadays.

Often regarded as a french Moodymann, Florian started making music back in the early 00’s, influenced and obsessed by Jazz.. Not so much the “sound of jazz” but more the approach and freedom of it.. Get rid of basic melodies, push the abstract further. Nothing’s naturally wrong.. only wrong choices.

Florian’s music is of a certain crazyness and intensity, drawing on influences that range from the genuine sound of Hendrix, the be-bop of Charlie Parker and the truly different sampling of mpc master Moodymann.

We heard about that deep talent years ago and had the chance to build this ep step by step together with him.. Trying to connect tracks of different moments of his life to make a kind of “overview” of Florian’s awesome musical diversity.

Part.1 includes 4 unusual tracks that could easily be listened carefully at home on a sunny afternoon or be played at night bringing a very special moment. The kind of tracks you discover as it was the first time at every further listen.. Always something you haven’t heard before.. A hidden harmony, a tuned perc coming out of another galaxy. Florian’s music charm could leave no one indifferent.. What’s making his records so puzzling and unique? It may be the live-recording, his very organic sound, his path and influences but as often, it’s probably more than a few skills and sounds.. It may just be the music of a very rare kind of person.
