Call Super’s 2014 debut album for Fabric’s Houndstooth label was something of a triumph; a hugely entertaining collection of off-kilter techno compositions and melodious, far-sighted deep house workouts. A year on, he returns to the label with a fine two-tracker that should cement his reputation as one of electronic music’s most unique voices. A-side “Migrant” sets the tone, with dextrous, bongo-laden beats and a jaunty synth bassline underpinning rich chords and emotion-stirring melodies. Flipside “Melintu” takes a similar approach, with additional layers of bright-eyed, Detroit-inspired melodies perfectly matching his tough-but-tactile, low-end grooves.
