With a firm belief that the dance floor is one of life’s most special places, Andrew McDonnell creates music to move your feet and capture your soul. His journey began fifteen years ago with the purchase of a pair of Technics 1200 turntables and a few crates of vinyl. Andrew has worked hard in the years between, building his reputation as a dependable player in Toronto’s upfront DJ scene. He has built up an impressive gig resume, with regular appearances in some of Toronto’s most legendary venues and parties. Both Andrew and the remixer on duty, Spanish producer Dakpa, have caught Metroline’s ear with releases on Alessio Mereu’s Amam in recent times and it was very happy coincidence that when the demo was delivered to ML HQ it featured both artists.

The opening track, Four (all tracks titles are numbers, 4, 1 and 6 to form the Toronto area code 416), is a relentless dark and hypnotic techno monster that does not mess around. Straight to the point jacking beats, disorienting stabs and atmospherics for a dark and sweaty warehouse at peak time! Studio One vibes aplenty in the second track…coincidentally named…One! The track has got hands in the air – open air – Berlin summer rave written all over it. The original version of Six is nothing less than a massive funky tech-house groover instead. Rolling percussions plus clever and infectious drum programming for a guaranteed winner on the dancefloor. Dakpa takes the drum work of Six, stripes it down to create an ever more infectious groove, adds a lead synth bass and wicked atmospherics to serve up a modern minimal acid number.
