Boris Bunnik goes under many aliases. Numerous smaller projects, some faceless projects but mostly known and well respected for his Conforce project. As Versalife he found his way to the Frustrated Funk and Clone familia. His recent LP entitled Encrypted Mind showed Versalife going into a more downtempo experimental soundscape terrain. Soul of the Automaton however tends to lean more on beat orientated electro broken rhythms, still playable for dj’s who are looking to cut up their house and techno sets with something a little more emotive and provocative. With ominous bass, analog rhythms and icey sophisticated atmospherics Boris shapes his trademark crisp production style. His music often tends to go into technical directions but he is always able to intertwine the right human factor, reminding you of the fact that this isn’t purely machine music. This is soulful techno, electro with subtle ambient elements and IDM echoes, touching the more experimental side of music here and there. Bunnik has not completely severed his links with the past though but he is unafraid of the future. This is again immersive and emotive music constructed on the West Coast of Holland in the harbour city of Rotterdam.
Real beauty doesn’t come from the unavoidable music industry promotion cosmetics. Real music should reach your soul, and can only be explored through direct transmitted waveforms.
