Echo Echo is another sub-label from the Echocord power house and for its latest release, taps a new producer, the Berlin-based Orbite. Inhabiting the more horizontal end of dub techno, Interstellar maps out an esoteric path. For starters, there’s the stripped back but steely drums and rhythm of “Skylar”, which provide the basis for wonderfully dreamy chords. On “Moment”, Orbite dispenses with dance floor aesthetics in favour of breathy, billowing textures and dreamy vocal samples, while on “Organi”, he maps out another vital destination in left of centre techno – the echoing, cavernous dub sound that Echo Echo’s parent label specialises in.
