With the 113th release ICONYC welcome back Greek master Ziger to the label with his latest masterpiece. Ziger who has been at the forefront of the scene with his progressive and melodic techno influenced driving productions, delivers another trademark release. With releases on Beatfreak, Sudbeat, Outta Limits, Click Recordings amongst others, he has gathered massive support from the world’s finest including Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren, Tale of Us, Eelke Kleijn, BOg, Stan Kolev and many more.
On his return to ICONYC Ziger’s maturity and musical development is in full swing, Ziger takes us on a journey with this deep, hypnotic track which is interspersed with subtle effective percussion a profound floaty grooves and indie influences, turning this one into an underground anthem with a very soul tangling appeal, utilizing a hypnotizing groove as the basis of the track underpinned by a staccatoed bass that gradually eases its way to the breakdown of breaks percussive elements before unleashing into a rising melodic hook intertwined with the infectious vocal that fades in and out for maximum effect.
The first remix comes courtesy of label all-star Alex O’Rion who is famed for his outstanding work on Sudbeat, Mango Alley and ICONYC; most notably his original releases ‘Navagio & Rubicon’. His rework for ‘Domestic’ will have melodic progressive house fans rejoicing, as he delivers a poignant and driving mix that will sure enough earn him praise from the leading lights of the dance music cosmos. The moody theme from the original is maintained and presented with a driving and even more warped sensibility, which should wreak havoc on even the most discerning dance floors.
Roger Martinez, who needs no introduction delivers a stunning interpretation, which has the feel of a day in the clouds. Smooth sub tones and a profoundly subversive bass line that reaches rib cage depths sits at the foundation. Draped with sheets of percolating effects a futuristic and deeply thought-provoking set of euphoria bending chords wash over the composition which creates an emotive and luscious mood. The composition peaks with the lead chords warping and twisting their way to a momentous sonic conclusion.
To close out the release we have another Alex O’Rion rework. Alex has completely overhauled the original into a classic, wobbly, orchestral progressive mix for the ages. An irresistible groove is complemented with gorgeous piano accents, shuffling drums and panoramic, widescreen synths for what results in another high-quality progressive house production. Alex delivers a bittersweet, quality fueled, melancholic rework that still manages to get your toe tapping with each downbeat.
