On Loop evolves into a new era for 2022, presenting ‘On Loop – Various Artists 001’. The compilation reflects label boss Moxie’s worldwide travels and eclectic taste, featuring a spectrum of electronic styles from artists across the globe.
Melodic, Street Soul boogie beats from Oakland’s Space Ghost, gets things off to a sunny start with ‘Used To It’, before soulful organs reminiscent of Motown / Doo Wop spill into a thumping 4/4 kick in ‘Heartbeat’ by Eris Drew, simmering alongside distant vocals. Following on from this is ‘Heavy Town’, a bass-driven electro stomper from Gallegos, then a brooding and breaky acid workout from French-Ecuadorian analogue hero Nicola Cruz with ‘Vai Sentir’. Chunky synths takeover in ‘Still Rising’ by Olive T, a New York native bringing her own flavour of classic East Coast house with a nod to 2000s French House. A touch of airy and ethereal tech house next from Dowd with ‘Baby Wants to Fly’ whose skittering hi-hats make way for ‘At It’, a layered melodic techno tool by Amsterdam’s Nachtbraker. Triple Point’s ‘Back 2 Life’ is up next, a Dubby Garage infused tune with lots of bass making it the perfect downtempo club moment.
