LAKEFKT is the hottest new artist to come to Greyscale and release an EP on the touted Mood Series. This one titled ‘Travels and Paths’ is inspired by the surroundings in, around and through the city and nearby mountains. ‘For me, the grandeur and power of the Canadian Rocky Mountains feels at once, spiritual and rejuvenating, as it does overwhelm’. ‘Chasing Meteors’ leans in heavy on the deep techno vibe to begin but then works in a mighty chord hook that could be seen as house or dub but both sides will be happy on the dancefloor. ‘Driving Forces’ brings in a more minimal style into the dub techno realm with the evolution of the rhythm. The bassline is the driving force and it holds everything together as the tech keeps things futuristic. A fine expression of proper deep techno. ‘Exit’ is a mainfloor stomper that is equally deep for the thinkers as it is to the feet. Head nodding will ensue as everyone listening agrees that they are feeling this one. It’s certainly one of those type of special dancefloor moments we all smile about when they happen. ‘Influxus’ is the most dubby track on the EP and by far the nastiest. Sick reverberating bass drives through the entire audio spectrum with just perfect amount of tech and melodic elements. This is the full package and more! Lastly, ‘Road from the Golden’ is a little easier on the senses with a beautiful vibe that works in a deep house mood ending this EP on a beauty. LAKEFKT says ‘The EP is some part minimal (reflective of the times I’m able to gain clarity through my surroundings) and some part well-layered (a translation of the hurried commotion of the city)’. We think, it’s just terrific!//
