Panoramic art zealots, Adroit Recordings are a Zurich based collective who work to champion creativity in all conceivable forms. So far – Adroit has provided a platform for myriad artists to express their take on Techno via a slew of podcasts, VA releases and EPs from the likes of Saime, Marco Bruno and Drhamer.
Having released a series of VAs under the sub-title of ‘Archive’ – Adroit ready the next instalment in the series: the 2nd chapter in the 3rd Archive collection. This is a bolstered pack of 8 floor-focused Techno tracks that burst out of the blocks at a pace synonymous with Adroit’s output. Artists included are Greek aficionado ANNĒ, LYRIC, Brazilian artist KaioBarssalos, Matthieu Benjamin, Gean, Maltese master Antidote MT, Hanubis and Dan Whyte.
ANNĒ kicks things off with ‘Misgiving’; a rigid, hypnotising banger that widens pupils and maintains tension throughout before Lyric ups the tempo with the aptly titled ‘Motion’. A warped sequence is set tumbling over a pacy 4/4 as additive percussion creeps into the mix in a manner that proves the power of simplicity.
KaioBarssalos is next up with ‘Exposure’; a thick, sturdy groove underpinned by a portly kick and mesmerising synth flickers. Swiss artist Matthieu Benjamin then follows up with ‘Tension’; a track that does exactly what it says on the tin in generating a powerful sense of suspense through a filtered, metallic riff and nifty hat shuffles.
Gean then weighs in with (INSERT TRACK TITLE); a clear, crisp track that drives a rolling synth line through steady percussion and trippy vocal cuts. Antidote MT is next in line with his track ‘Space Dimensions’. Deftly crafted sonics pan across the mix while a persistent thud keeps attention pinned on the dance floor.
Filters, capacious reverbs and bent melodies direct the listener in an intergalactic direction before Hanubis pins down a stocky floor-filler. ‘Kujo’ sets a bit-crushed melody twisting over a dense underbelly before Dan Whyte brings the collection to a close.
Neatly arranged percussion is set swiping over a powerful kick while mangled melodies and vocals bleed through bringing Archive 3 Part Two to a head bending conclusion.//
