MNTRA & NOZU team up for their latest release, Push EP`on Desert Hearts Black. The title track, Push, sees MNTRA and NOZU crafting a stripped-down yet irresistibly effective tech house heater. Built around a pulsating groove, live guitar licks, and hypnotic vocal hooks, the track radiates playful, funky energy while maintaining a shadowy, late-night intensity. The goal was simple: to make people dance, says MNTRA. This track was pure fun to create, especially recording the live guitars and vocals. NOZU adds, We had a lot of fun in the studio experimenting with some new production approaches within this record! The aim was to make a track for the dance floor that could be played at any hour of day and still bring the heat. The high energy funk combined with a nostalgic retro warmth really executed that vision perfectly for us! MNTRA and NOZU have been making waves with their ability to move between genres while keeping their sound unique. NOZU, fresh off his acclaimed single Free on Justin Martins What To Do label, has taken his sound to festival stages like Same Same But Different, Mycelium Festival, and Umbrella Weekend. MNTRA, a powerhouse in the underground scene, continues his meteoric rise with an upcoming festival schedule that includes Lightning in a Bottle (Woogie), Shambhala (Amp), and Off The Grid. Following the success of his debut album Hey, How Are You?, MNTRA has become a fixture in the North American club circuit, recently supporting The Sponges on their NA Tour and joining Smalltown DJs 2025 Mountain Magic Tour. On remix duties, Dernis, the kid takes Push even deeper into the after-hours, amplifying its raw groove with a driving, hypnotic flow. The original had this incredibly funky energy, and I wanted to lean into that while making something relentless for the late-night dancefloor, he shares. A longtime engineer at Dirtybird Records, Dernis has honed his signature sound through performances at Dirtybird Campout, CampINN, and Northern Nights—and his remix of Push is primed to ignite those same peak-time moments. With Push EP, MNTRA & NOZU deliver an electrifying fusion of funk and techno, while Dernis, the kid ensures it goes even deeper into the night. Prepare to move—this ones built for the dancefloor.
