Corrugated Tunnel Artist Bio

Edwin James, otherwise known as Corrugated Tunnel, has been an established artist on the Dublin electronic dance scene since 2005. Acclaimed for his live shows which have one won him many followers both at home and abroad, Edwin has also built a strong reputation for producing beautifully crafted, melodic electronic music that resolutely stays clear of any genre or trend.

His impressive production portfolio has already seen releases on labels like Dance Electric, NightVision, Systematic, Urban Torque, Rebirth, Dirty Works, Plastica, Elevation, Ork, Mode Music and District of Corruption, while he has produced and mixed artists such as DK7, Chelonis R. Jones, Filterwolf, David Duriez and Def Disko.

There have also been three critically acclaimed Corrugated Tunnel albums with the most recent, ‘Minor Obsessions’, released on Process Recordings in October 2010. Prior to that, ‘We Are Electronix’ and ‘I Am Corrugated’ were released in 2006 and 2008 respectively on seedyR/Invisible Agent.

With the release of the highly anticipated ‘Minor Obsessions’, Edwin confirmed his credentials as a major recording artists and the 12-track album features guest vocal appearances from D’mia , Martin McCann, Antoinette and Deborah Kay. Conceived after a year of releasing no new material, Edwin’s aim was to produce an album which reflected the music that has influenced him over the years. He also wanted to draw inspiration from music that was not purely electronic, and to go where he hadn’t gone before and create something new.

DJ Mag described Corrugated Tunnel as “Blurring the boundaries between house, techno, electro and breaks.” This is evident throughout ‘Minor Obsessions’ and the title itself is a hint at Edwin’s quest for musical perfection.

Taken from the album and featuring vocals from Martin McCann, ‘Threadbare’ soon followed as a single with remixes from Orlando Voorn and Berghain resident Norman Nodge. It received widespread critical praise with the Guardian website describing the Norman Nodge remix as “Techno from the heart and not to be missed.” This track also featured on a recent Ben Klock cover mix CD for Trax magazine in France.

Edwin shines as a live artist as anyone who was at the recent Corrugated Tunnel performance at Bodytonic in Dublin will testify. His shows are a cut above most in electronic music and he brings a whole new dimension to his sound in the live arena.

2011 looks set to be the busier year so far for Edwin and forthcoming releases include the ‘Transist’ EP and a remix of Djamel’s ‘Voyeurism in High Definition’ on Process Recordings as well as the ‘Toyko is Falling’ EP on Abstract Theory.
