CS + Kreme Artist Bio

CS + Kreme is Conrad Standish and Sam Karmel.

Standish is a collaborator with HTRK and Blanck Mass, while and Karmel is a member of F Ingers, Bum Creek and Short Future. As CS + Kreme they produce deeply narcotised balearia, their name being a sly nod to Stockport’s Kevin and Lol.

There are some striking parallels between their home country, Australia, and Ibiza: they’re both too hot and favour pastel tones; therefore CS + Kreme’s blunted pop devotionals and gauzy beats make a lot of sense in context of their climates, and yet conversely translate just as well to nicotine-stained bedrooms in Manchester, and Berlin for that matter.

Working somewhere between HTRK’s opiated phosphorescence, Mika Vainio’s iciest downbeats and the urbane numbness of Tin Man’s Wasteland mini-LP, whilst also steeped in the most wistful tones of early ‘90s ambient music, CS + Kreme distinguish themselves by the arresting addition of Standish’s vocals, which gently light up the the shadowy bass line and lingering new age vibes.

In 2020, following a handful of EPs and cassettes, the duo released their debut album “Snoopy” on The Trilogy Tapes. Read more on Last.fm. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
