DJ Bazootka Artist Bio

DJ Bazootka (Andrijan Apostoloski) is an electronic music producer from Skopje, North Macedonia, who specializes in absurd and surreal harder style of techno that mainly follows the old-school approach of production, however often pushes boundaries and rules set within the seemingly conservative four-four world. His production is not melodic at nature as he follows the dub-illbient philosophy of sound, so he often knows to bring disharmonies and dark soundscapes with a maximalist jazz-like ‘insanity’ to tell his story. Besides this, as an artistic contrast he often spices his tracks with ghetto-styled vocals with a blend of Middle-Eastern and Balkan folklore percussion.

Andrijan started producing music in 2010 at age of 15 with drum and bass, however it wasn’t until 2015 when his Likvidator moniker was born, diving into dub, illbient and trip-hop with a more serious approach for the first time since starting to tinker around with music making. He is a DIY artist, as he does most of the technical things by himself, such as self-releasing most of the music, mixing, mastering, graphic design, marketing, etc, all skills which he’s self thought at.

Aside from music production, he co-founded frekvencii.org in May 2011 alongside Nyctophiliac, a Skopje-based music platform with the goal to unite the youth from the Western Balkans through contemporary art and rave culture, where he takes the role as a music journalist to write reviews about electronic music releases, but also delivers original podcast mixes from both Balkan and international artists and DJs, track premieres, and even event organization and booking.
