A passion for his craft in constructing entertaining soulful house music sets, was the catalyst for his entry into House music. From Melbourne Australia, DJ Jorj is one of Australia’s most respected and revered disc jockeys. He has built a reputation based on his dynamic session sets in local and International clubs, events and festivals of high repute over the past 14 years.

With his inspiration emanating from elements of disco, street soul, jazz, funk and latin beats, to the diverse range of World Music, Jorj emerged from the depths of musical soul to unearth the rhythm that is House Music. Jorj cites his influences from musical supremose such as George Benson, The Jacksons, Quincy Jones and Malcolm Mclaren, to contemporary masters of the decks such as Danny Tenaglia and Masters at Work.

He has built a formidable reputation through his highly energetic and enthusiastically recognised performances. Exhibiting his unique style of soulful house and garage through a maze of wild percussion and deep funky sounds. Jorj’s status has been heightened by the combination of inspired and energetic sets together with live instruments, vocal performances and accompanying dancers.

Abiding by a philosophy where house music has no rules, Jorj pushes the boundaries through his infectious sessions incorporating Nu Jazz, Future Soul and Latin / Afro abstract excursions mixed seamlessly with the grittiest of house and garage. No doubt his style derives from the fact that Melbourne is a city which embraces varied cultures from around the world; one which offers instant access to an abundance of music styles and sub genres.

Apart from headlining Australia’s premiere clubs and dance parties / festivals, such as Two Tribes, Gate Crasher summer Sound System and Respect Is Burning, to name a few, Jorj has performed at many of the worlds top venues including, Pascia (Italy), D! Club (Switzerland), Centro 360 (Singapore), Opium Gardens (Miami), Neuvo (Kuala Lumpur), Mad (Mykonos Greece), +Soda (Athens Greece). In addition, he has supported International acts from all over the world such as, Masters at Work, Frankie Knuckles, Lenny Fontana, Knee Deep, E Smoove, Dimitri from Paris, Jon Cutler, Boris Dlugosch, Brian Tappert, Ron Caroll and Mateo and Matos.

Jorj has been diligently involved with the production side of music, skilfully creating his own brand of sounds in the studio. He views this as an effective tool to cross boundaries and break tradition when structuring his live sets. His producing is really making massive progress into the world of house music. DJ Jorj has been remixed by the likes of Blaze, Joeski, Danny Krivit, and Knee Deep. Jon Cutler, Knee Deep and ‘Little’ Louie Vega have also featured his work on their compilations (Soul Heaven, Ministry of sound, Large music & many other’s). Furthermore, his music has been charted and played by practically all bomb house DJ’s around the world.

Jorj is a DJ with passion and commitment to his craft, which the world is now discovering. With two of his tracks being signed to Distant Music New York (Jon Cutler’s label), one being signed to Knee Deep Records Germany & 2 more about to be released in Miami 2004, on Curious Records UK. Jorj is a product of the vibrant Melbourne House scene, where there are many DJ’s but few in the league of DJ Jorj!
