Dunno Artist Bio
There are at least two artists with the name Dunno
1) DUNNO 1971-1973
Dunno was a short-lived group from Belfast that emerged in 1971 from a stable of locally popular bands — notably The Dominoes, The Group, Heart and Soul, Chips and The John Smith Band. They had barely rehearsed a set when they were signed up by Emerald Records on 26 April 1971. Asked what the band should be named, the inspired response was: (you guessed it) “Er…dunno.”
Dick Pentland wrote and performed the distinctive “Magic Beat” — the B-side of their second record. Bill Morrison and Keith Baker wrote the A-side of that release — a five-part harmony song called “Sunday Girl.” It was released in Ireland and Great Britain but failed to make the charts. Pop devotees will of course recognise that Blondie subsequently had a hit record with Sunday Girl. Blondie’s was a song with different words and one which, according to lawyers, unfortunately also had a different tune.
Popular venues were The Pound, The Astor, The Mint Imperial and Shane Park. Dunno revived Hollies and Creedence songs from the sixties and covered Crosby Stills and Nash material. As well as complex harmony covers — they performed lesser known classics such as Bobby Bloom’s “Heavy Makes You Happy;” Medicine Head’s “Pictures in the Sky;” T Rex’s “Jeepster,” and Three Dog Night’s “Joy to the World.”
Other members of the Dunno were John Smith and Sez Adamson. Bill Morrison left towards the end and was replaced by Dusty Hagan.
2) Barcelona-based pop and rock group
Each one of them contributes his creative and spontaneous talent to their music. Natural, sensitive and humble, they use their music to transmit their inner feelings so that those mortals and immortals enhance their optimism and sensitivity towards the perfect imperfection.
Maybe this is their purpose, being happy, express in all senses everything that surrounds them and transmit it by means of their music.
Dunno will open that long forgotten door that few have opened yet, and they will surely open it with the same harmony and passion with which they transmit their little histories… their feelings.
