Francesco Rossi Artist Bio

There are at least two artists called Francesco Rossi:

1. Francesco Rossi (?Bari 1625 – ? after 1699) was an Italian composer, organist and Maestro di Cappella. Rossi was born in Bari in 1625. He is recorded as student in the Conservatorio di Sant’Onofrio a Porta Capuana in Naples. In 1669 he is Maestro di Cappella in the same institute, position held till 1672, and organist at Bari’s Cathedral. He became a canon of Bari Cathedral and on 16 January 1677 was appointed Maestro di cappella. From 1681 he shared the position with his rival Alonzo Ramirez. He moved to Venice in 1686 where he was known as ‘abate pugliese’. In Venice he wrote operas for the Teatro San Moisè and published his Salmi et messa a cinque voci op.1 (Venice, 1688). On 22 July 1689 he was appointed maestro di cappella of the Venetian Ospedale dei Mendicanti. He retired on 8 January 1699.

2. Francesco Rossi is an Italian DJ & Producer. His recent success “Paper Aeroplane” (based on Angus & Julia Stone’s song) was released on the Italian record label d:vision in May 2013. It was selected as Pete Tong’s Essential New Tune and was featured in Maya Jane Coles’ BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix. In September 2013, Francesco Rossi won the 2013 DJ Awards, “Paper Aeroplane” is nominated best Track of the Season during the winners ceremony at Pacha in Ibiza. In 2013 Francesco got the #1 on DMC Buzz Chart twice. In January 2014 Francesco was selected as “Future Stars” by Pete Tong during his radio show on BBC Radio 1.

Biography
Francesco began his career as a DJ in Tuscany. He has performed at festivals including Swiss Street Parade, Sunwaves Festival Romania, Amnesia Ibiza and Ultra Music Festival for four consecutive years (2007-2010).

In 2010 he launched his own record label, Rouge Purple. In 2011 he launched his own radio show, Respect DJs. He has released tracks on record labels d:vision, Strictly Rhyth] and Ultra Music.
