HEDGE Artist Bio
Hedge was a post-hardcore band from Louisville, KY, with influences ranging from 1980s D.C. indie rock to southern rock and jazz.
From 1992-1997, Hedge released a demo tape, two 7 inches and a full-length album called “Every Blessing Is A Curse” on Damn Entertainment. All Hedge releases are now out-of-print and extremely difficult to find. The band played dozens of Louisville-area shows, including a rally against a youth curfew ordinance that was held across the street from Louisville’s city hall in 1997. More than 1000 people attended the rally, which would be Hedge’s final show.
Though cycling through several early drummers, the band eventually solidified around a lineup consisting of singer Dave Bird, guitarists Greg Livingston and Russ Pollard, bassist Ryan Stratton and drummer Tony Bailey. Members have since gone on to numerous other local projects. Bird currently plays in Rude Weirdo, while Livingston most recently played guitar in Chime Hours. Bailey played in numerous other Louisville bands before his sudden and unfortunate death in late September, 2009. Read more on Last.fm.
