Jack The Box Artist Bio

The charismatic DJ combo of DJ Tyree Cooper and DJ Bobby Starrr a.k.a.Robert M. Stanley met in 2007 in Berlin . They soon realized that despite each artist owning a strong identity, they perfectly complement each other’s style. The project name, JACK THE BOX , an homage to the Chicago house scene, was found shortly after.

The combo currently holds residencies at Kater Holzig and Tresor in Berlin and is renowned for inviting high calibre guest DJs to their events.

In September 2012 Moodmusic released their first single collaboration: “Jack the Box presents: The Tyree Cooper and Bobby Starrr E.P.” of which the feature track “The Way We Walk” was welcomed with kudos by the house scene. Next up are the two E.P.’s Jack The Box Presents – ‘Pon De Undaground’ and ‘The Way We Walk-Remixes’ and scheduled for later of 2013 their first album ‘Side A’ – all on Moodmusic.

JACK THE BOX’s undeniable charisma and enthusiasm for deep, Chicago inspired yet contemporary house music and their flawless track record of successful parties has garnered them a distinguished reputation amongst a remarkably high calibre of crowd-pleasers. Already in the early beginnings JACK THE BOX was able to secure an impressive list of guest DJs for their first year-long residency at Berlin’s foremost EDM underground venue Kleine Reise. Amongst others they attracted high-profile and newcomer guests such as A Guy Called Gerald (Manchester), Nick V (Paris) and Danny Rampling (London).

With the closing of Kleine Reise, the JACK THE BOX Berlin residency moved temporarily to Loftus Hall before signing a monthly residency deal with Tresor. Their monthly party “E-man-ci-pate” continues to feature international favorites as well as up-and-coming guest DJs such as Farley Jackmaster Funk (Chicago), Pal Joey (New York), Terrence Parker (Detroit), and Rob Mello (London), and also live-acts such as Nicholas (Italy) and Robert Owens (Chicago).

In light of the success at Tresor, JACK THE BOX were approached by Kater Holzig (formerly Bar 25) to create a house-party franchise that protrudes in the electro-heavy environment of Berlin and therewith the bi-monthly residency “Lunarphase” was inaugurated which entertaints their guests well after sunrise. Guest DJs included amongst others Supa DJ Dmitry (Kiev), Matt Flores (Dusseldorf), James Johnston (Glasgow), Eric D. Clark (Berlin), and Melon (Amsterdam).

In 2009 JACK THE BOX were approached by Sweatlodge Radio www.sweatlodgeradio.com to host a weekly radio show which Bobby Starrr continues to curate every Wednesday from 8pm until 11pm CET out of Yuma Bar, inviting his DJ friends from around the world to perform live and direct via online-stream. Regular pan-European co-hosts of the show are Tyree Cooper broadcasting from Yuma Bar; Joost Dulac, broadcasting from Soundfreax in Amsterdam; and DJ Upi, broadcasting from various clubs, bars and even saunas in Helsinki. Featured in-house guests included Mandel Turner (New York, Paris), Red Rack’em (Nottingham), Joe Babylon (San Jose), DJ Toh (Tokyo), and Bryan Agent Pepper (Paris).
