John Norman Artist Bio

Originally from Winnipeg, Canada, and currently residing in London, England, John Norman is pushing techno sounds to new places. His sound has been refined over many years of avid pursuit of that which is driving yet laid back, full yet minimalist. The result is a sound unlike any other, filling dance floors around the world.

His quickly growing arsenal of original tracks and remixes now include releases with 7Stars Music, 4PlayTrax, UNT! Records, OneWay, and forthcoming tracks in 2012 on EUN Records and more. His tracks have seen support from international heavy hitters including Richie Hawtin, Roland Klinkenberg, Markus Schulz, M.I.K.E, Wally Lopez, Marcella, Anderson Noise, and Jesse Voorn, and after seeing his first track to break into the Beatport Top 100 (London Town on 7 Stars Music – #79 in Top 100 House Releases) in early 2012, his sound is increasingly in demand.

Starting out as the kid hauling his huge record bag to open decks, John quickly gained reputation across the Canadian Prairies for impeccable tight mixing blending sounds together for a unique approach to techno, minimal and tech house, but knowing no bounds. With this, he began booking events in his hometown and across central Canada, Toronto, Montreal, and Minneapolis; within a few short years he was working with the Hauswerx crew in London, UK, playing the legendary Ministry of Sound, along with more intimate London clubs. Despite his passion for live events, John has also created a mix series – The Original Language Global Session – to help his sound reach further across the globe. The OLGS has been hosted regularly on radio stations such as puredj.com in Holland, the former CityBeat Radio in Scotland, Undergroundradio.tv and Miami Beatz Radio in the US, and Canadian Techno.fm. In addition, his mixes have been featured on stations from England, Brazil, Croatia, Chile, Bulgaria, and was one of the final featured guests on DJ Preach’s Transatlantic Radio show who stated that John’s “mix of tech house will take you to a place you’ve never been”. Now in its second year, the monthly mix series continues to feature some of the finest house and techno available, and can be found in the iTunes podcast section.

You can expect John to push his productions and DJ sets to new heights as his obsession with sound continues, taking influence not only from electronic music history but also from the everyday and spreading his brand of music the world over.
