Joyce Mercedes Artist Bio

Joyce Mercedes is well known throughout the underground music scene. She has shared stages with names such as John Digweed, Sasha, Anthony Pappa, James Holden, Paul van Dyk, Chris Fortier and Derrick May.

Her passion for music lies in her dancing, as well as in her singing. Between 1997-1999 Joyce Mercedes was part of “Centerfold”, a singing group. In 1998 they performed in a sold out Amsterdam Arena during halftime of the Ajax-PSV football match. “Centerfold” also added lustre to the 15th anniversary of Playboy magazine. Joyce Mercedes also works regularly as a model, featuring in campaigns for Heineken, Campari, Gap-Star, Playboy, MAXIM and FHM magazines.

In 1999 Joyce Mercedes decided to buy some turntables, and try to master the art of mixing. Her first performance before an audience took place in Miami at a private party. The bookings started to roll in, culminating with a DJ residency at the Amsterdam “Supperclub” and the 2-year-long “Space World Tour”.

She received her Audio Engineering degree in 2004 at the School of Audio Engineering (SAE) in Amsterdam, and specialized in the course Electronic Music Production, following which she began producing her own music.

Joyce launched her own label, QOC-Recordings, in the end of 2007.

As for now, she is working on her second DJ mix compilation called “Capo Dei Capi” and will be released on her own label. Release date is February/March 2009. Read more on Last.fm. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
