Kid Enigma Artist Bio

Keith Rafael Perez, better known as Kid Enigma (kE) is a Chicago-born recording artist with a never ending desire for Peace, Love, and Tranquility. These moral values keep him balanced as an artist and a human being. kE manages to stay balanced by analyzing his peer to peer interactions, his environment and its trends. He understands that our world has begun to lose appreciation for the simple blessings of life, and has been dominated by technology. Therefore, instead of contributing to the cycle of repetitive commercial “mainstream” music, kE has the freedom to produce whatever music he desires with the purpose of unifying people on the dance floor—a return of investment much greater than a monetary profit.

After Keith graduated from grammar school he purchased his first pair of plastic turntables ,and by age 14, he picked up his first residency in a restaurant turned lounge where he met several up and coming promoters and DJs. He began calling himself ‘Kid Enigma’ ,and by age 16, he had 3 weekly residencies; mixing Top 40, Hip-Hop and Old School.

At the age of 18, Kid Enigma grew tired of the Top 40 scene and decided to renounce all of his residencies to focus on himself as an artist. After a year of preparation Kid Enigma launched himself as a producer and teamed up with Edgar “MAC” Pineda (one of his closest friends) to establish B Natural Records. Thus began the era of the B Natural mixtapes to build momentum for the record label and Kid Enigma’s following, while he developed his production skills.

Kid Enigma quickly progressed and started releasing his own music under B Natural Records. He began to seek more from the underground music industry; consequently venturing off to New York City where he fell in love with the MAW, Kerri Chandler and 1200 Warriors sound, indulging in the different sounds while visiting clubs to distribute mix apes.

When Kid Enigma attended his first Winter Music Conference (WMC) he met the very people that had influenced him to become a working musician, includingMark Farina—his mentor from a far. kE also found help and guidance from key mentors such as DJ Rampage, Lego, Mark Farina, Junior Rivero and Choco, Stacy Kidd, DJ Sneak, Derrick Carter, and David Sabat.

Today, having played around the US, kE is dedicated to fine-tuning his production style of ‘deep and dirty’. His music’s main objective is to promote life through the power of music and artistic expression so that we can all value our presence on earth by stimulating people to get away from themselves, to enjoy the dance floor, to escape their problems, and to ENJOY LIFE
