Lempo Artist Bio

Lempo (aka Mike McGuinness/ Micky Fidget/ Big City Rats), started his dancefloor career on the other side of the decks, breakdancing all over the North West, taking in all the music he quickly built up an understanding of what does and doesn’t work for the crowds. After discovering a love for house music, Lempo decided to pick up the headphones and become the one who supplies the grooves to the masses. This led to the launch of his own event MONKEY FUNK which ran from 2003 – 2010 at various venues in both Manchester and London. Promoting has played a large part in lempo’s career culminating with APPLIQUE events, which are Deep House and Tech House parties. Co-founded with JONO CARR and REKREATION, APPLIQUE is now held monthly at SANKEYS in Manchester, voted the worlds number one club by DJ-MAG readers in April 2010.

Now a well established touring DJ, Lempo finds himself in demand from club brands and festivals worldwide due to his seamless mixing and admirable tune selections. Appearances for events such as AFTERPARTY, BITCH, BUGGED OUT, DEFECTED, FILTH, GLASTONBURY, TOOLROOM KNIGHTS and WAX:ON has allowed Lempo the pleasure of putting in performances at many prestigious venues which include his beloved SANKEYS in Manchester, MINISTRY OF SOUND, PACHA and THE END in London, GARLANDS and BABYCREAM in Liverpool and two of his favorites, which are the more intermit MINT CLUB in Leeds and CAMEL CLUB in Huddersfield. Lempo’s most notable adventures abroad have been Cancun Mexico at THE CITY, BCM in Majorca and of course on the White Isle of Ibiza at ES PARADIS, BORA BORA and many other top San Antonio bars and clubs.

Lempo has supported internationally renowned DJs including JUDGE JULES, LAIDBACK LUKE, JORIS VOORN, KISSY SELL OUT, FELIX DA HOUSECAT, JOHN DAHLBACK, DAVE SPOON, ROGER SANCHEZ and FEDDE LE GRAND to name just a few. As his reputation has grown, Lempo’s sets have also hit the airwaves, having appeared on numerous radio stations and online shows such as MINISTRY OF SOUND RADIO and CHESHIRE FM. This led to hosting his own weekly broadcast THE LEMPO AND CARR SHOW with co-host JONO CARR every Tuesday night on MANCHESTER GLOBAL RADIO. In 2009 Lempo secured an endorsement deal for himself, Applique and his radio show with sponsors DIRTY SMART CLOTHING, the clubbers clothing label.

Along with his hectic DJ schedule, Lempo is constantly in the studio working on his own productions for record labels such as NOVITECH Recordings (USA) and WONKED Records (UK). Lempo’s E.P. Releases have featured collaborations with artists such as THE JUNGLE BROTHERS, REKREATION, BUNTO, ABIGAIL BAILEY, JON CRAIG, KELEVRA and WONK. Lempo is also one third of the BIG CITY RATS alongside STU SMITH and ANGELITA JIMENEZ.
