Little Nobody Artist Bio
Little Nobody is otherwise known as Andrez Bergen, an expat Australian freelance music, movie and anime journalist, photographer, DJ, record label head honcho, and experimental electronic music producer who’s been based in Tokyo over the past 7 years.
He also makes music as Funk Gadget, Slam-dunk Ninja, Schlock Tactile, LNEE minus 3, DJ Fodder, Conversational Dentures, and over a dozen other meaningless aliases.
Bergen helmed his own radio show, ‘CYBERDADA’, on Melbourne station PBS-FM for seven years from 1994.
He kick-started his Little Nobody soundsystem project in 1997 first as a joke, then with his debut track “Nobody’s Driving” on the critically acclaimed Australian compilation ‘Zeitgeist 3′, alongside people like Voiteck, Honeysmack, TR-Storm, Jammin’ Unit, Blimp, Cinnaman and Zen Paradox.
Constantly morphing along the way, Little Nobody has since produced 4 albums and several EPs for innovative Australian record labels IF? and Hypnotic Room, as well as Dead Channel in the UK. His remix single release, ‘Bare’, was adjudged Single Of The Week in Melbourne’s Beat magazine way back in 2001.
Little Nobody material has since been remixed by Si Begg, Dave Tarrida, Tobias Schmidt, Jammin’ Unit, Captain Funk, Shin Nishimura, Jason Leach (Subhead), Toshiyuki Yasuda, Mijk van Dijk, Tal, DJ Warp, and Steve Cobby from Fila Brazillia.
Through Stockholm-based label Fitja he’s cut four EPs, and has had tracks released on international compilations, and currently works with Tokyo’s TTAK Collective on vinyl and live jaunts.
Little Nobody’s album ‘Action Hero’ was one of the 4 final nominees for Best Album Of The Year in the 2001 Australian Dance Music Awards (the Avalanches were the eventual winner)…. He’s currently working on his 5th album, title as yet unconfirmed, all of which has been produced in Tokyo and should see the light of day in 2009.
Little Nobody also featured on Si Begg’s NOODLES DISCOTHEQUE VOL. 2 compilation way back in 2001.
He’s toured Japan, played in London, tweaked knobs in Detroit, New York, San Francisco, and Chicago, twiddled live-ish in Windsor in Canada, in China, Hong Kong, and in a humble scout hall in the middle of nowhere just outside Groningen in the Netherlands – not to mention extensively around Australia.
Blah, blah, blah. Aren’t you bored yet?
Over the past decade he’s played at legendary Melbourne clubs like FILTER, TERIYAKI ANARKI SAKI, CENTRIPHUGAL, MORE BASS, GLOBAL WARMING, REVOLVER, and HONKYTONKS, along with that city’s big warehouse parties such as Hardware, Every Picture Tells A Story, Earthcore, War Of The Worlds, Omniglobe, Sunshine People, Where The wild Things Are, and Belfast. In Sydney he’s popped up at Frigid, Freaky Loops, Club Kooky, Phreakin’, Warm Up, & Scissors*Paper*Rock – while in Tokyo he’s played at Womb, Nuts, Concrete, Bullets, etc.
