Matthew Collins Artist Bio

Matthew Collins is a singer/songwriter from Harrow, London. Having spent the majority of his teenage years playing and performing with bands, ‘Last Years Fashion’ and ‘Jackoby Night’; Matthew is now surfacing as a dynamic solo artist.

In early 2007, after making a name for himself on the London club and bar circuit, and through a handful of resident performances for the record store, Fopp, a short run of his initial E.P (the, ‘Outside the walls E.P’) was recorded and printed for purely live distribution. The recordings featured songs defining the acoustic and somewhat soft sounds of Matthew’s debut style, including the anathemas, bitter-sweet title track that first began his departure from the former full-band act.

Now after an extensive period of performing around the UK, Matthew is currently in the later stages of recording and putting together his first full-length solo album. The new work marks his return to the more energetic and pronounced appeal of that which was inherent in the earlier band days only now with a greater maturity of song craft.
The album (as yet untitled) sees Matthew, together with producer Alan Payne define himself amid a sound that is very much his own. Influences come from unique artists such as Elliott Smith, David Kitt and soft-spoken band, ‘The National’. Read more on Last.fm.
