Mike Spirit Artist Bio

Mike Spirit appeared on club scene in autumn of 1995, playing psychedelic trance & techno in first Russian clubs Hermitage and Relax. Getting involved into trance-music surroundings, Mike Spirit inspired first Russian trance record label Sun Trance records, at the same time organizing parties with participation of European trance-scene stars – Simon Posford (Hallucinogen), Hugo, Simon Holtom, Dado, Vikara, Laureth, Yak, Ramon, Mahasuka etc.

In 2000, having left trance scene, Mike Spirit comes to techno music, explaining it by “gravity of the roots”, as in the very beginning of his career he was a great fan of German Labels Eye Q and Harthouse and played so-called “Frankfurt sound”. At the same period Mike reads course of lections about modern musical culture in Russian Music Academy Gnesinyh.

Opened by Mike Spirit, Bar Mousson, on legendary Russian Dance-music Festival KaZantip, was approved to be the best fest bar two years at row in 2001-2002. Beeing an art-director of coffee-bars Moscow-Berlin, Moscow-Rome, Spirit produced the first official Russian serial compilation of House and lounge music Moscow-Berlin (by DJ Berg), Moscow-Roma (by DJ Mixmaker) and Silk (by Mike Spirit), released by Universal Music. And in spring 2004 he released another compilation, Afterhouse Sessions (by DJ Feel) again at Universal Music.

Mike Spirit is permanent DJ-resident of legendary Moscow techno-club Gorod and played there his sets together with such people as Sven Vath, Laurent Garnier, Miss Kittin, Dr.Motte, Josh Wink, Darren Emerson, Adam Bayer, Robert Babicz and great many others. Being one of the best Russian techno-dj’s Mike organizes serial party The Kings of Techno in 2003 – 2004 with participation of Pascal Feos, Jack de Marseille, Alexander Kowalski & Raz Ohara, Heiko Laux, Leandro Gamez, Oxia, Emerson, Andreas Kauffelt, Paul Brtchitch and many many more.

In the end of 2004 Mike Spirit released his official Russian compilation release of American label Subliminal and goes on huge promo-tour around the CIS and Baltic Countries.

Today Mike Spirit is one of the best Russian dj’s. He keeps performing in Europe and has played his sets in Berlin, Dresden, Hamburg, Köln, Nuremberg, Muenchen and Rex club (Paris). He participated in all biggest Russian Dance festivals KaZantip, Fortdance, Creamfilds Russia. At the end of November 2005 Mike will present show ‘Highway’ on the dance radiostation Megapolis FM.
