MO. is the art project nickname for an artist belonging to Invitro Independent Music – a label established in 1998 in Sofia, Bulgaria. From the very beginning, MO.’s concept for self-presentation includes the dark light fetish, new wave electro rock music and the will for provocation. MO. became conscious of his interest in music and show business early in his teen age, when he heard for the first time songs of his yet favorite Depeche Mode, Camouflage, Kraftwerk, The Cure, Erasure, Pet Shop Boys, Duran Duran, New Order, Sisters of Mercy, Joy Division and other veterans of the new wave post punk era. Being the first artist and founder of Invitro, MO. built the label and made its reputation of a party management agency and a label producing less-commercial music on the Bulgarian music scene. MO.’s first record became reality in the end of the year 2000 and included demo versions of “Comeback 2 My Dreams” and “Short” – two compositions co-produced together with Bulgarian electro innovator Rebel. In 2001 MO. recorded the vocals for the new version of “Black Tango” – a song by the great Bulgarian wave band New Generation. The song was co-produced with the band’s first keyboard player – Mihail Peshev. During the same year, Invitro Independent Music started the management of gothic new wave and electro clash parties in Sofia’s nightclubs. MO.’s agency is involved not only with DJ booking and flyer design, but with production of radio shows for underground music, promotion of music albums officially released on the Bulgarian music market and release of music projects as well. MO.’s first official single “Only / Symbiosis (Fragments of Love)” appeared as a maxi single in the year of 2003 with the support of Bulgarian label Riva Sound and was included in their catalogue. The artists involved in production are: Bulgarian pop diva Maria Ilieva, singer and writer Stratia, composers Momchil Kolev and Veselin Karaatanasov (Sky Studio), photographer Elena Spasova (“Egoist” and “1” magazines), Bulgarian alternative band SKRE4, Porno_BPM formation DJs – dj KiNK (laureate of “Electronic Music Awards, Paris 2004”), dj SuB, dj KEi, Second Body, cellist Lady Egrin and the Austrian-Bulgarian formation Nu Ages with remixes produced in the German studio Digital Natural Sound, together with Italian music producer Xenomorph. MO.’s debut reached first place in Bulgaria’s most popular radio stations in just few days and in the official Bulgarian chart Top 100 for 2003 – 39th position. MO writes himself the music and lyrics to all of his songs and the sounds are born in a symbiosis with artists who feel his projects vibes. MO. takes care alone for his styling, the art concepts for his image and the graphic design of “MO.” packing, which is all based on MO.’s ideas. In 2004, together with Renesanz label DJs – dj JackRock, dj Balthazar and with Digital Plus Studio Sofia, MO. started production of the music art project “Loveblaster”. Also then started the national tour in various Bulgarian cities together with guest DJ Christian Fischer from German label Definition Records. Then MO. participated in mainstream concerts, as well as in underground events, being a dj, performer or mc. It took almost three years to finish the “Loveblaster” project, which included the sound and hearts of musicians, producers and photographers like Emil Iliev (Music Sound Machine, Studio In Sofia), Kiril Valeri (Vieana, Austria), Tomina (Invitro), Hristo Karagyozov (Digital Plus Studio, Sofia), dj KiNK, Victor’s Mob, KENOGO (Invitro), COOH, DeckStarr, Nikolay Dichev, Second Body, Kamen Aleksandrov (S4), Elena Nenkova (“Rhythm” Magazine), Georgi Asenov, DeaDreamer and many other Bulgarian contemporary artists. In the audio DVD project “Loveblaster”, coming out on Bulgarian and world music market, the track will be remixed in various tempo and with lyrics variations. There will also be included the exclusive tracks “BlowJob”, “Only’07” and “All The Time In The World”, the last one inspired by the music and lyrics of Martin L. Gore to Depeche Mode’s “It’s No Good”. “All The Time In The World” was produced and recomposed for Invitro by MO. and KENOGO Aka. OGONEK (Porno_BPM). The “Loveblaster” maxi single will be out on the Bulgarian market together with versions of the song in Bulgarian under the name “Love Dealer”. There will be old unreleased bootleg records on the issue, and also photos, video materials and other whims of the artist. In 2006 Fashion TV chose for its official soundtrack for the documentary on Bulgarian advanced-guard fashion, the club remix version of the “Loveblaster” single (KiNK’Size Deep In Garage Electro Invitation), made by dj KiNK from the underground dj formation Porno_BPM. The advanced-guard document that was broadcasted on 36 world stations of the fashion satellite channel was sound-tracked with the first Bulgarian track on Fashion TV. Nowadays MO. is counting the days to his next birthday and dreams of doing art with his Bulgarian and foreign producers and friends for an art-loving label somewhere on the British island, Europe or across the ocean! MO. was always a diehard fan and still values high everyone devoted to art and moderate egocentrism. Yet to come is hard work (orworkhard) on MO’s newest music projects – the themes “Going Down” and “Invisible”, written in the last few years, matured and ready to be recorded. Today MO. feels ever more confident and satisfied with his work as a dj and promoter of underground events and he writes his soundtrack on his own. Stop. Read more on Last.fm.
