Moss Artist Bio

There are at least twelve artists called Moss.

1. Moss is an indie rock band based in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, fronted by Marien Dorleijn. They make their own blend of rhythmic indie rock with vocal harmonies (apparently influenced by Fleet Foxes, at least for a while), although their later work shifted towards psychedelia. Moss released six full-length studio albums thus far: The Long Way Back (2007), Never Be Scared / Don’t Be A Hero (2009), Ornaments (2012), We Both Know The Rest Is Noise (2014), Strike (2017) and HX (2022).

2. Active from 2001 to 2015, Moss was an occult, three-piece doom metal band from Southampton, United Kingdom, fronted by vocalist Olly Pearson. Signed to Rise Above Records (Europe) and Metal Blade (U.S./Canada), they released three full length studio albums, a live album and numerous EPs, split recordings and demo tapes.

3. The band is known in China as “苔藓”. “Moss” is a direct translation of “苔藓”. However, in late 2009, they officially adopted “Thallus” as the English name.

4. Moss is an electronic musician producing downtempo/nu-jazz.

5. Moss is a progressive trance producer releasing on vinyl titled Mossaic.

6. Moss is an artist whom has remixed various IDM/minimal/ambient tracks.

10. MOSS is a meeting of some of New York’s most talented and diverse jazz singers – Theo Bleckmann, Peter Eldridge, Lauren Kinhan, Kate McGarry, and Luciana Souza. They unite their creative ideas and talents; presenting their original compositions and resetting them for five voices and trio. You are likely to hear standards, poetry, original music and spontaneous improvisation under one umbrella.

Peter Eldridge and Lauren Kinhan are members of the Grammy award winning New York Voices and also have their own solo projects of original music; Theo Bleckmann is one of the vocal magicians with Meredith Monk and his own genre-bending work; Kate McGarry has been gracing New Yorkers with her soulful timbre for many years; Luciana Souza is seen all over the world in all her incarnations, Brazilian, Jazz, and Poetry inspired.

Moss is also used by two producers. The first did the mastering/mixing on The Dambuilders vinyl. The other is MoSS whom is a record producer primarily working in hip hop.

11. Philipp Moosbeckhofer – known by by his stage name MOSS – is and Austrian pop / edm artist. Since he was a litte child, MOSS has been dedicating every spare minute to music and getting better at producing. At the young age of five, he started to play the guitar. Today MOSS masters five instruments and completed a classical piano education. At 13, he started to write and produce Electronic Dance Music and Pop-Tracks. MOSS was only 14 when he released his first Single on SoundCloud. In 2019, MOSS signed to Global Rockstar.

12. Moss, real name Moss McGregor, is another Australian electronic music producer. Moss has featured on USA Cult event Hard Summer in Australia while also being hand picked by Ableton for their Live 11 launch showcase in Sydney. Read more on Last.fm.
