Soulsmith Artist Bio

Soulsmith has been going for around two years or so. Mike and Ant started it off as a small-scale acoustic project. Eventually they got bored of that and decided to do it properly, so they brought in Paul and formed a three-piece band.

After two practices, they were asked to do their first gig – and therefore had to figure out a name. They played the first gig (badly) under the name Soulsmith, and it kind of just stuck like a really sticky thing.

The band take pride in writing solid catchy songs, with lovely bits of awesome coolness strategically placed as to maximize the mind-boggling ace factor (which is, on average, around 8). The band work tirelessly (ahem) to bring the finest music stuffs that they can to their listener-folk, hoping that they may enjoy it.

After about a year of seemingly endless gigging and writing, the band released it’s first album ‘Obsessed With Hiding’, after a number of EPs (2). They worked their little socks off to make it, on one evening they even stayed a little bit later than they usually would, just so that it would get done that little bit earlier. The album is available to buy at gigs for £5 and is available for £7.99 on iTunes, check the Discography page for more information.

After a rather biblical amount of gigs, Soulsmith have recently started a whole new batch of songs, which are (so far) sounding really terrific. They’ve been working with their good chum Andrew on getting these little cherubs recorded, but these things do take many more minutes than you’d expect. Either way, the summer is looking swell this year, with various festivals and shin-digs planned, and all sorts of tomfoolery to be had.
