2. Soulstar (Dutch)
Soulstar released their first EP called ‘Bringing the Funk into the future baby!’ in 2005. With success, they won the bandcontest ‘De Oogst van Overijssel’, we’re played at national radio (Kink FM) and their gig at Paradiso Amsterdam was broadcasted live on the Internet.

As from 2008 there was the big turn. Bandmembers have changed, but founder, composer, singer and bassplayer Gooswijn van Rees stayed. Together with a new producer/keyboard player Iwan Blokzijl they worked hard on a new sound. Accompanied by new members Marco Nelemaat (drums) and Hubert Eggen (guitar). With they’re powerful mix of rock, pop, electro and many other styles and they’re strong focus on graphic design you could say they’ve formed a brand new band.

The four men of Soulstar are inspired by the diversity of Prince, David Bowie, The Gorillaz and Soulwax, the moods from Radiohead, Elbow and Faithless but also the energy from bands like The Police, Underworld, LCD Soundsystem and the Foo Fighters. Mix it up with the classic songwriting skills from the Beatles, Rolling Stones and Neil Young and you get a surprising blend.
