Superstrings Artist Bio

Superstrings (Myspace – Quandarium), started out as an internet collaboration. Sam, (superstrings), traded ideas with James Cooper from Leicester. Their ideas where based around their influences at the time – ranging from The Berzerker to Aphex Twin. The sound they came upon was a very distorted mix of metal riffs, instrumented by 8-bit samples, and IDM with added black metal type vocals.

After a while the pair lost contact and the partnership fell apart. Soon after Sam decided that he needed to concentrate on real work after the failings of two death metal bands based in Liverpool, UK. During this time he stumbled upon producers like Kkrusty, Venetian Snares and Saskrotch. Realising that these types of producers were the perfect influence to base a foundation of beats upon he set to work on creating metal influenced 8-bit tracks with a more traditional underbground IDM beat.

A while had passed before Superstrings had released tracks and independently made albums before he set his sound to a more classical feel, (from late 2006/early 2007). Since then he has tried to reproduce metal inspired music into a classical sound, remixing everything from Metallica, Carcass, Black Dahlia Murder, Portishead, Gorillaz and beyond.

Though, not much has been heard from Superstrings/Quandarium since summer 2007 and it is not likely he will release anything online for the near future. Although, rumours have stirred about a mix up of 8-bit and classical remixes of 60-80’s rock ballads.
