Thousand Fingers Artist Bio

Thousand Fingers are a melodic band formed in Monmouthshire, South Wales UK in 2011. The original lineup consisted of Charlie Whaley , George Morgan and Tobias Chave-Fletcher.

After becoming established in February 2011, the original idea for the band was to be an instrumental project. Their first show was a Hog Roast in Redbrook just outside of Monmouth where they found mass appreciation for their new sound, and as the year progressed they played many other shows around the UK until it got to a point where they wanted to make greater use of their sound with a vocalist to boost the dexterity of the performance.
They would later bring in Joe Hughes on Guitar, who the band already knew from their educational years at Monmouth Comprehensive School, after he joined the band would return to playing shows at The Globe in Cardiff, where they played to a packed audience that signaled that the addition of a vocalist was a great decision.

As they continued to perform round the country, they began to write new material to further adopt the melodic vocal style which is the band’s trademark to this day. On the 26th May 2012, Thousand Fingers would be invited to play the O2 Academy 2 in Birmingham where they performed alongside some other great upcoming acts such as Fight The Dice, In Hindsight, Pressure Kids and more. It gave the band a huge boost, and proved that they could perform on the larger stages.
While performing further shows, including Monmouth Festival 2012 the band’s hometown and supporting ‘Blitz Kids’, they began recording their demo EP ‘Straight From The Box’ which included tracks such as ‘Julius’ and ‘Shot By A Hero’. The main aim was to create something to show everyone what the band was all about sound wise, so to release the EP, they arranged a release show at the Miners Welfare Hall in Cinderford, the show was a big success with all copies of ‘Straight From The Box’ being sold.
With the demo EP doing well, the band decided that they should record their official EP which would be titled ‘Memory’. They recorded this through Jon Fisher from J J’s Studios at the ITV Television Centre, and they re-recorded ‘Julius’, as well as adding ‘River Wizard’ and ‘Soldiers’ to the track listing. It took around 6 months to create and it was later released with the band’s first record label ‘Tinstar Records’ on 13th February 2013, the EP sold out online across the globe.

With the successful release of the debut studio EP ‘Memory’, Thousand Fingers were invited back to the O2 Academy 2 in Birmingham only this time they were headliners. It was the biggest performance to date and was hailed with a huge response. Their was a great element of worry before the show, as guitarist, Joe Hughes broke his hand and therefore took over vocal duties for the show, leaving Charlie Whaley on guitar. With it being such a big risk, the band still performed regardless and blasted out a grand show and never left any doubt of them being worthy headliners.
It would next be a return to J J’s Studios, as the band were to record their debut album, which would be called ‘Pathways’, after the release of the ‘Memory’ EP, the band felt it was necessary and for the better that they self-release the album under the label name ‘GC Records’.
During the recording of the album, Joe Hughes left due to interests outside the band. They then brought in a new member, Jack Sargent.

With the recording of the album complete after a years worth of work, the band would first release their debut single ‘Future’ on 1st September 2013 , which overnight gained no less than 10,000 views in over 24 hours which was an amazing achievement for the band. In support of the release of the album, Thousand Fingers would then Tour with International Touring band ‘Loading Data’ across the UK.
